A young gargoyle, off on her first solo(-ish) adventure with her cousin. The job seems neat. The building seems like it could benefit from some of her skills. But being away from home makes her cry a little sometimes, and she has to figure out how to make all these people like her, quick. But like, why wouldn't they? She's great!!

appearance
Kimber holds herself confidently, and moves in a bouncy, animated way that involves a lot of quick, light touches and a constant movement of hands while talking. She dresses well, though generally comfortably, and swings between wearing her hair natural or straightened with equal frequency.
A thin seam of gold, much like kintsugi, runs around the base of her thumb, index, and middle fingers on her left hand. They look like rings, if you're not paying close attention. She has a chip in her right collarbone that looks like it's filled with diamond lined with gold (it is).

background
When Kimberlite called to her father Augelite (affectionately Auggie), he was very old. It had been some fifty years since he'd had a child, and he hadn't been planning on raising another. But then, there she was, a stone half submerged in the ocean, and he knew he had to awaken her. So he did, and found himself a father once again.
Though she had siblings they were all since long gone except for one older brother a good hundred years older than her, and being that their community was very small, most of her early life was spent simply with her father and Hatch, who had been dropped off by his mother. Kimber's childhood, though relatively quiet, was filled with love and maybe a bit of spoiling by her father, who found it hard to resist her sweet face and soft requests for all the things she wanted. She and Hatch helped Augelite with his work as a sculptor (and, maybe, sometimes did the opposite of helping) before they were old enough. And then, it was time to learn somewhere other than home. She begged her father to come along with them but, at his advanced age he wasn't able to.
Hatch's mother took the two of them off traveling for her work, and at first Kimber was inconsolable, missing home and, mostly, her father. Eventually, though, her homesickness settled (sort of. enough, anyway.) and she threw herself into both learning and maybe also in some mischief making. Her and Hatch, thick as thieves, were often a little rowdy and risky, leading to various injuries that required Hatch's mother's work to put them back together. But that's fine! Nothing was permanent! (Well, except Hatch's arm, but that's fine too).
But, once again, they are being sent off, this time without either of their parents. Kimberlite knows that this is good, and will be fun and exciting, but after a month at home before heading off, she's feeling homesick all over again. Having Hatch helps, of course, but maybe, just maybe, she'll be looking for distractions in the way of recklessness. It's all fine. She's an Adult now.
miscellaneous trivia
Gargoyles aren't born so much as they're awoken. Another gargoyle will be called to by a piece of stone, and that stone, once awoken, will become a baby gargoyle. All gargoyles thus have a single 'true' parent.
Gargoyles age at a normal rate until they settle into their 40s, during which they generally stop aging for quite some time. As they near the end of their lifespan (hundreds of years) they begin to take on more and more characteristics of their true gargoyle forms in their human shape. They become stiffer, slower, and eventually simply turn to stone.
Gargoyles in a community are all 'family' - you have your true parent, potentially other parents, siblings (those awoken by your true parent), step-siblings (those awoken by your other parents), cousins (anyone awoken within 20 years of your awakening), and aunts and uncles (anyone awoken much earlier than you that don't fit into other categories).
